Associate Professor John Anderson gave a workshop on "Global Supply Chain Management in the Era of Decoupling"

In order to better guide teachers and students to accumulate academic research experience, the school of management invited Associate Professor John Anderson, to give a workshop entitled Global Supply Chain Management in the Era of Decoupling at Admin Building 812 on June 29th 2023. There were more than 60 teachers and students participated in the offline + online workshop.

First of all, Associate Professor John introduced the current state of the supply chain. The supply chain is decoupling, rather than deglobalization. Traditionally, a deep crisis is followed by deglobalization. Now supply chains lack diversification, rely on lean inventory models, and lack sufficient understanding of suppliers.    

Subsequently, Associate Professor John introduced that China has invested unprecedented financial resources in selective industrial policies for strategic emerging industries, aiming to improve the innovation capacity and output of key industries in the future, and Chinese multinational companies have obtained higher R & d related green space FDI since 2010. Taking Nio electric vehicle as an example, it lists a number of r & d investments in NiO in developed countries.


Finally, Associate Professor John summarizes the impact of Belt and Road and other policies on China's outward direct investment and how the decoupled supply chain brings risks and opportunities to Chinese companies.
